Zappa's widow is in town

Gail Zappa is in town today at the federal court to sue a local furniture store here that illegally used a few seconds of Frank's music in an advertisement spot in 1995.
(They used "Watermelon in easter hay" from Joe's Garage which has VINNIE on!)

I saw her on TV and they were asking her why is she coming here in person for that; it's so remote and it seems so little.
She told that she'll go anywhere in the world to sue anybody who shows disrespect to his husband's heritage.
And she said that it's not just about money cause she's an ardent militant for copyrights.

Anyway she doesn't expect much $$ out of it because 1) the store pretends it was not even aware of it, 2) the advertisement company is out of business and 3) the guy who did the spot is 6 feet under...

So beware all of you Zappa pirates and bootleggers...Gail is watching you!

She had no qualms about supporting Al Gore in the last election...I thought that was odd seeing how it was Al and Tipper at the forefront of trying to shut down Frank.

Just read that they came to an "out of court agreement" and that the store apologized.

At the beginning Gail Zappa wanted 125000(CAN$) for a spot that had been broadcasted 226 times.

The agreement has not been disclosed.
